Maps

Maps is a key mode on your Bird-Boy device which helps track your geographic location and route.

Select the map button on the front of your device (indicated by the compass icon) to open the Maps HUD. The Maps HUD displays your location, as well as a compass indicating your direction.

If you are currently on an Adventure, the device can display two types of colored routes:

  • Your current route is displayed in blue.
  • If your Adventure is using an existing route, that route is displayed in yellow.

Interacting with Maps

Use the D-Pad to move your cursor across the HUD. Select the Enter button on your device to mark a specific geographic coordinate. The following options become available:

  • Discovery: Opens the Discovery mode for that coordinate to log a species or landmark.
  • Pin: Adds a visual pin to that coordinate.
  • Back: Return to the Maps mode HUD.

Adding Pins

Pins are visual markers you can add to distinguish specific coordinates. You can add a Pin to your current coordinates by double-pressing the Enter button on your device.

When adding a Pin, you can select from multiple icons to visually indicate the significance of the Pin. Then, select Place to confirm.

note

A Pin is less distinct from a Discovery. Discoveries can be viewed from the Database mode or Map mode, but Pins can only be viewed from the Map mode.

To view existing Pins, access the Maps Settings.
