Discovery
A Discovery is how you create a new entry in your Bird-Boy device for a species, landmark, or other sighting. Discoveries can be compiled into an ongoing Adventure, or be saved independently.
Logging a Discovery
Select the discovery button on the front of your device (indicated by the paper icon) to open the New Discovery menu. You can alternatively access the Discovery menu from your Maps HUD by selecting a specific coordinate, then selecting Discovery.
Discovery Type
You will first be prompted to select the Discovery type. This will affect fields of information which can be provided for the entry:
- Species: Organic life sighting, such as an animal or a plant species
- Landmark: Geographic sighting or phenomenon
- Other: Non-descript or alternative sighting
Discovery Description
Provide as much information as necessary to your Discovery through the following fields:
- Name: Name of the species/landmark. Use the digital keyboard or your device's physical keypad to provide a name for your Discovery.
- Time: Time of date. Automatically set when you create the Discovery
- Location: Location of the discovery. Automatically set to the coordinate of the Discovery
- Count: Number of sightings in your Discovery (for multiple of the same subject)
Attach Media
You can sample audio or video and attach it to your Discovery by utilizing the Bird-Boy's native camera and microphone functionality. Select the camera or microphone icons accordingly to add samples.
Completing your Discovery
Once you have provided as much information about your Discovery as possible, use the down arrow button on your device to move to the bottom of the Discovery menu, then select Complete.
Viewing Your Discoveries
If you wish to view previous Discoveries, launch Database mode on your device, then select the Discoveries index tab. If you would like to share your Discovery files beyond your physical device, see Importing or Exporting Data.
